Voltron's Devotional Fire Power- Childish rants and tantrums of a Voltron Fan
Albert Einstein once compared the vastness of the Universe against Human Stupidity and he admits that the latter is far more infinite than the former...This is best applied to this Voltron fan in raging tantrums I've just encountered in a Voltron Forum.
He was blithering like a child because perhaps he had seen my "versus" series in the Youtube or my fanfictions cast through out numerous fiction sites...Oh yeah...those "Voltes V versus Voltron" series...
be that as it may, I will try to answer his prattles in a more objective way
still, I will never give in or apologies to his hero, Voltron- The self appointed King of robots; the self proclaimed Defender of the Universe ordained by God, yaddah-yaddah.
Most of my fellow Filipinos would automatically vote for Voltes Five without bothering to give it a second thought...which is exactly part of the problem.
In fact, this always seems to be the case every time I see a "versus" type topic/thread. People just automatically vote for their favorites, regardless of whether or not their choice goes completely against logic.
I am a Filipino. I love Voltes Five. But I also love Voltron. And as one of the few (maybe the ONLY) Filipinos that can be trusted to be logical about this situation, I will be the one to provide the definitive, final answer to this problem once and for all, regardless of which super robot came first or whatever you favorite robot is.
My judgment: Voltron would probably win.
And I am NOT just saying that because this is a Voltron forum.
I have no stats for either robot, so I cannot say how they compare in terms of physical strength (or size, for that matter). In terms of overall fighting skill when their teams are in their respective robots, they appear roughly equal. Both robots are portrayed as being quite tough (but not indestructible) in their respective shows.
What would give Voltron the advantage in this fight is firepower. While most of their weapons match up in terms of damage, Voltron has more weapons and abilities to choose from, and some of his more powerful ones look like they can lay out more damage than Voltes Five can. After all, some of these weapons are based on future-tech that is appears more advanced than what came out in Voltes Five's generation. On top of that, some of Voltron's stronger abilities are magically empowered. Whatever the case, based on what has been portrayed in their respective shows, Voltron appears to be stronger in this particular department.
That is my analysis. Agree or not, as far as I am concerned, my judgment is final. I'll even be willing to bet that most everyone who disagrees with my findings is most likely (sadly enough) a rabid Filipino fanboy with no concept of logic and fair judgment who just wants to see Voltes Five win everything.
Now, being finnished with his sad story, I will critisize his childish jibberish:

What would give Voltron the advantage in this fight is firepower. (...and he said he had no statistics for each robot character, but he readily declare Voltron's advantages in fire power...Phew!...talk about a total IDIOT!)

After all, some of these weapons are based on future-tech that is appears more advanced than what came out in Voltes Five's generation. (What good are these so-called weapons if the users of such weapons are incompetent morons and a Disney Princess Reject?!)
On top of that, some of Voltron's stronger abilities are magically empowered. (Magically Empowered???...Give me a break!...And he calls me "not-logical!)
Whatever the case, based on what has been portrayed in their respective shows, Voltron appears (you read it folks..."appears") to be stronger in this particular department. (Strong he says...But Voltes V accomplished two missions one the defense of Planet Earth and the other is the Liberation of boazanian Slaves...Voltron with all it's so-called might and power, let King Zarcon escape...Wow...talk about POWERFUL...Frankly, when it comes to fighting, SAMURAI JACK can out skill Voltron itself!)
That is my analysis. (Who's illogical?)
Agree or not, as far as I am concerned, my judgment is final. I'll even be willing to bet that most everyone who disagrees with my findings is most likely (sadly enough) a rabid Filipino fanboy with no concept of logic and fair judgment who just wants to see Voltes Five win everything.
Now, let's scrutinize the abilities of both robots, starting with the pilots:
1. The Skills, trainings and abilities of both teams:
There are no mentions of what kind of combat training the Voltron Force had under went in the academy. In regards to the Voltron episodes I’ve seen so far, they were never subjugated under strict, harsh and extreme trainings.
Let’s take the Voltron Force’s skill at face value; Pidge, the youngest of the Voltron Force was said to have martial arts trainings but primarily they were trained as space explorers. Perhaps, they can thoroughly navigate and maneuver through deep space and they can handle the controls of different space craft under Galaxy Alliance specifications.
That’s because they are Space Explorers!
The Voltes Team on the other hand were young, highly skilled Earth Defense Agents. (Voltes V vol.1: Invasion from Outer Space) they were disciplined in such military and oriental combat skills as Karate, Judo, Kendo, Marksmanship and Ninjitsu.
General Oka, (Commander Robinson) one of Camp Big Falcon’s elderly base commander was a Ninja master; 110th descendant of the fierce Oka ninja clan. His daughter, Megumi Oka (Jamie Robinson) one of the pilots of Voltes V, is a sharply skilled “Kunnoichi” (Female ninja). She can actually assassinate Princess Allura in her sleep if she wants to (She’s just so darn sweet…
Further more, the Voltes Team most likely to use their martial arts skills to enhance Voltes V’s deadly counter attacks (Voltes V vol.4: To catch a butterfly)
The Butterfly technique is an ancient form of Samurai skill were a practitioner dodges an enemy sword without avoiding it. On the contrary, this defense maneuver anticipates the sword attack and uses the opponent swordsman’s own strength against him just like Aikido. I doubt if Voltron and the Voltron Force had the same training know-hows.
More so, the Voltes Team underwent harsh and murderous training sessions under Dr. Sanjuki (Dr. Hook) where they learned the lethal “Spin-Fly Technique”. (Voltes V vol.9: The need for rigid training.)
The Spin-Fly technique, it should be noted, transforms the Volt Machines in their maximum speed into one giant, rapidly charging drill impervious to any laser and projectile attack. It alone can send Voltron and the whole Voltron Force into the afterlife.
I strongly believe that between the Voltes Team and the Voltron Force, the Voltes Team in this aspect had the upper hand.
Weapons and Enemy Comparison of the Two super robots:
Voltron was known to carry an array of space weapons against the “Robeasts” from Planet Doom. These weapons are:
Royal Shield Blasts, Blazing Arrows, Wing Attack, Lion Torches, Voltron Kick, Electro-Cross Force, Voltron Eye beam, Lion Head Attack, Blazing Sword!
“Robeasts”- should be noted, are monsters mostly fashioned to look terrifying yet they still looked like giant clay creatures. A few of these had armored coverings and carry giant swords but more often they lumbers mindlessly like drunken frat boys.
Voltron’s final weapon of choice is the “Blazing Sword.” (A poor carbon copy of the Ten-Ku-Ken just like Voltron’s name)
On the other hand, Voltes V sports an arsenal of Ninjitsu-based super weapons against the “Beast Fighters” from Planet Boazania.
These weapons are:
Ultra-Electro Magnetic Tops, Ultra Electro Magnetic Whips, Chain Knuckles, Grand Fire, Concealed Bazookas, Gatling Missiles, Ultra Electro Magnetic Beam, Voltes Kick, Ultra-Electro Magnetic Ball, Ten-ku-ken (Sword of Heaven)!
“Beast fighters” - are sentient giant robot monster-war machines.
They are generally covered in heavy Maxigold armors, since most of these behemoths had genetically implanted Boazanian warrior’s minds, they can think, plan an attack and some of them are skilled in archery and swordsmanship.
Voltes V’s final weapon of choice is the Ten-Ku-Ken (Sword of Heaven) a weapon forged from deep Japanese Samurai mythos.
But before Voltes V could use the Ten-ku-ken, the great sword unleashes a powerful “Ultra-Electro Magnetic Ball.”
This mighty ball of intense electro-magnetic energy engulfs, weakens the armors and paralyzes the strongest of Voltes V’s opponents.
Thus, Voltes V can easily bring down the Ten-ku-ken at the trapped opponent and destroy it with ease.
As an addition, Voltes V can even release several of the Ultra-Electro Magnetic Balls in rapid successions that means there is no time for an enemy to escape!
One can just imagine how Voltron could fair against something like the “Ultra-Electro Magnetic ball”.
These Voltron Fanatics continues to cling with a faker like Voltron
“Voltes V” was the epitome of everything “anime” and super robots way back in 1978. Heck, the whole country went crazy over Voltes V.
Unlike its predecessor Golion (Voltron) VOLTES V was an emotional cartoon.
This animated sci-fi adventure rooted in the traditional japanese samurai genre, spreads like a raging wild fire that caught the fantasy and imaginations of Philippine youth!
A cartoon unlike the slapstick U.S. made for T.V.s like “Wacky Races”, “Stop the Pigeon”, “Mission Magic”, “Fantastic Voyage”, “Casper” etc.
It was the first cartoon in Philippine Television that never shied away from death (4 important characters in the series died.)
The series featured the anguish and torments of the weak, human sentimentality, the longing for a parent and the respect for elders.
The series never stressed individuality as other U.S. cartoon seem to imply but it emphasize on “TEAM” work and the defense of one’s homeland is a noble and desirable act!
I remember U.S. teenaged cartoon characters in those times, always had this semi-rock band every before each episode ends.
Not in “Voltes V” were the teenaged Earth Defenders were thrown into a military boot-camp like environment and their coordinator took away all their personal belongings for a better fighting performance.
Reply
Frankly, Voltron does not only copied the name,(notice this, VOLTron, /VOLTes V) concept and some of the elements of Voltes V, but also two of the episodes of Voltes V; one of the main character’s love one was derivative by the enemy using robotic technology to infiltrate the heroes’ base. (A character named “Gareth” who is supposed to be the long lost son of Koran showed up and fooled the Castle of Lion’s staff. Just like what happened in Voltes V, where an android likeness of Dr. Kentaro Gou (Dr. Armstrong) fooled the father-longing Gou brothers (Armstrong Brothers.)
The writer or writers and makers of Voltron (Go-Lion) are guilty of imitating the “giant-base- turned-space fortress” at the very near of Voltes V’s ending! (The Castle of Lions turns into a giant spaceship called “Flying Fortress”, just like that of Camp. Big Falcon’s “Solar Bird”.)
I had a “Voltron” DVD complete to the very last ending.(48 episodes)
I found this “RIP OFF” and I even told myself, “Why Americans did favor such a blatant rip-off of a more poignant super robot story?
Why do they content themselves with "CHEAP FAKERS?”
3. Human sentimentality in both shows:
Most episodes of Voltron I’ve seen, contains no dramatic display of human sentiments what so ever. Yes, the Japanese of Voltron (Golion) had one of the Voltron members die.
But in the “tampered” U.S. version, the character Sven retired from service. (Talk about dedication)
The animated series even had a Disney- wannabe ambiance embodied by Space mice, beautiful princesses, castles and keeps and evil witches. There is nothing in this animated show that I can relate to: No sufferings of slaves, no uncertainties and indecisiveness among the main characters, no cries of anguish among the war victims.
What’s even cornier is the fact that every time a Voltron episode starts to close, a character religiously proclaims Voltron: Defender of the Universe.
Then they made this “Voltron in 3rd Dimension”; a computerized rendering of Voltron. This does not help at all.
All I could see are animated action figures and a 30 minute commercial of a rehashed robot toy for kids to nag at their parents to buy.
Sadly, I can only level Voltron with other corny cartoons like He-Man, Thunder Cats, Scooby-Doo, the Herculoids, Thundar the Barbarian, Denver-the Last dinosaur and the Gobots.
Missing one or fifteen episodes of Voltron means nothing, really.
Voltes V was a different ball game all together: The animated series was a tear jerker among youngsters and a quaint source of inspiration for older viewers.
Voltes V highlights human sentimentality and emphasize the notion of the defense of one’s homeland, is a noble and desirable act.
Unlike other cartoon series in those era, Voltes V depicts the cruelty and barbarity of a mighty alien invasion force over the suffering Boazanian slaves and conquered Earth people altogether.
The Voltes team was not “uppets” or mere mechanical components of Voltes V; The team had their own differences, feelings and sensibilities towards their team mates, and to the other supporting characters.
They are young human warriors who witnessed the death of their self sacrificing mother and longed the warm love of a long lost father.
I just shook my head in loathing and disgust and just told myself: “This is why the “Voltes V vs Voltron and the Godaikin Wars” Youtube video exist; these are the only way I could offer justice for Voltes V against Voltron’s shameless imitating and idiotic fans like this one!”
Voltron…Lions? They should be “Robot Parrots!”
That Voltron DVD had all the proofs that this so-called, self proclaimed Defender of the Universe is a “crook,” a poor Voltes V wanna be, a COPY CAT and a brazen CHEAP IMMITATION!
